If you have been in the housing sector for a while you will no doubt remember when it was simply about 'letting and managing your stock'! Obviously this is still the main function you have as an RSL.

This list simply touches the surface really. Hopefully, despite your busy schedules you are active in many of these areas. Perhaps you have an officer who is allocated time and purpose to represent your RSL in this type of community activity where you hold stock?

The roles of housing officers, rent collection and maintenance officers are complicated enough and time consuming. So much of their time is absorbed by paperwork, reporting and also managing anti social behaviour. There is no doubt that your officers are the best people to know what is going on within these communities however they may not be the best people to become active in these other areas of expertise. This could be due to lack of time, knowledge, lack of confidence or even because they don’t have the personal interest or desire to work in this type of role (each to their own!).
