Prior to our re-location to North Yorkshire, home was in the large conurbation of West Yorkshire within the triangle created by the towns and cities of Leeds, Huddersfield and Bradford. These great contrasts demonstrate all round experience and solid, general capabilities. Whether you need support working in a large inner city community with a large and diverse ethnic population or perhaps a seaside or market town in the largest county in the United Kingdom with its many villages and rural localities – Community Acorns can help you regenerate and develop.
The partners have a wealth of experience and a passion for this field of work, often finding solutions and funding that our clients were not aware of. This achievement in community regeneration has brought about improved services and delivery, facilities, community assets and buildings/premises contributing to improved social capital and change.

Furthermore, our entrepreneurial qualities combined with diversity and equality permeates throughout our outlook and approach to our work in this important but frequently overlooked community sector.
Community Acorns achievements and activities
- Establishing chain of children’s day nursery businesses over 20 yrs.
- Establishing out of school clubs and community holiday play schemes.
- We have a resume of project management roles and experiences, covering, service provision, procurement, building development, financial management.
- Creation/facilitation of various community groups, initiatives and events.
- Community Acorns is a contractor for SureStart Children’s Centre’s – supporting their needs and offering solutions and service delivery around family engagement, training and learning.
- Grant and funding applications – we have a wealth of experience in this field. From 'small pot' applications through to larger applications including European funding sources with applications in the region of £1million.
- Developing, commissioning and managing incubator workspace units within an enterprise centre in deprived, super output area.
- Financial inclusion, we have experience of raising awareness and providing solutions identified within the community following research and consultation, encompassing the existing partners and volunteer members and community groups.
- Community broadband & wi-fi business and schemes.
- ASB 'hot spot' management and stock rationalisation schemes.
- Community event management – for a variety of events, including risk management, press, PR, overall management if required.
